IM Pro Series 2026

In the past couple years I have seen a couple break, and long ago Bjorn had one snap very early into a 112 mile ride. You could see the road there was very bumpy, I saw a few cages come loose and rattle the entire rides..Guess why it is called a slow bike there..

Happened to Schomburg last year at Frankfurt.

Reinforces my point about amateurish pro triathlon doesn’t it! But of course the reason I’m calling Blu out is that he is (1) vastly more experienced in non draft than either Schomburg or Løvseth (Hamburg mishap) were last season, (2) his championship record, (3) he is allegedly obsessed with minutia in training.

The next IM Pro Series event is 70.3 Geelong - 22nd March, 14 days time.

Cyclists have mechanicals all the time. But unlike professional cyclists, triathletes don’t have the luxury of having a team car following them with a replacement bike on the roof.

From PTN:
Wilde now on the Geelong start list, after the Abu Dhabi postponement.
Comment: But not Hauser (who is racing the 10km at T100 Gold Coast).
Geens, Le Corre and KB super pleased to have a bit more competition.

and 15 others. Fairly lacklustre men’s field, several of whom will be fatigued from Taupo.

Crazy stacked men’s field.

Hayden is going to win comfortably. KB will get 2nd followed by Jelle (who is all in on full distance this year).

Lackluster mens field?? I strongly disagree, is one the strongest ever, The reigning pro series winner, the reigning 70.3 world champ, the t100 world champ, le’corre no 2 Taupo, Smith has numerous t100 podiums, Birtwhistle a 2025 pro series podium . Dunno what more you could want.

Men’s field is stacked and is probably the first time we have a head-to-head between what is probably the best 3 middle distance athletes today for the first time?

Can’t see anyone beating KM in the ladies unless she didn’t cover well or fast enough from NZ

Not lackluster, or strongest ever. Missing a couple Norges, Van Reil, Schomberg, RIddle, Bergere, just to name a few missing. But for sure the race for the top 3 is going to be very hard fought, no gimmies on this one..

Well it has the 2 world champ middle distance plus the Blu - silver medalist which is the first time these 3 have faced off over this distance.

Hoped for more bites :fishing_pole:
It will be interesting to see whether the 20m draft zone has an effect on train integrity.

Yeah it looked like a trolling attempt, especially after I saw the women’s field.

The T100 team are probably disappointed that the Gold Coast race is womens’ race. Imagine KB, Geens, Wilde, and who knows if Yee and Hauser would have gotten invites. What a missed opportunity.

Hayden (or Jelle) pulling a Knibb at Oceanside 2024 - where someone shows up completely unconcerned about pro series points, but absolutely ruining the points tally for everyone one else -would actually make the men’s side of the Pro Series entertaining this year.

KB has already lost a chunk at IMNZ, and losing more points here would open the door wide open for the rest of the field. He can make up a bad 70.3 score relatively easy, but with a Roth appearance on the horizon it will be hard for him to replace the NZ score as well.

Then with the other Norges suffering from injuries and the uncertainty that comes with it, the men’s pro series might well be anyone’s game.

Why would they be disaapointed? It was them who decided that the Gold Coast event would be a ladies event?

KM and JG will always get invites based on their ranking
