I'm pretty sure I bought stolen goods on eBay

I bought a pair of running shoes on eBay. Description said, used once, no original insoles. No problem for me since I wear orthotics. I got the shoes in the mail last week and then had a pair of custom orthotics in them. The name on the bottom of the orthotics does not match the name of the guy who sold them to me. If they were the sellers orthotics, I’m pretty sure he would have contacted me to get them back. So I did a google search for the orthotic’s owner, and found his email address. I sent him an email.
My question is this, do I have any chance of getting my money back from paypal? What is eBay’s policy on such matters?

My bet is thge origonal owner will pay you to get them back. I know I would for my custom orthotics.
I think once it was proven that they were stolen, Paypal would likely refund the money.

YES!!! Maybe they were taken off a dead guy

If I were the owner, I would be hapy that you were honest enough to contact me and get my orthotics back to me, that I would go ahead and buy you some shoes to replace the ones you will lose in your honesty.

I think I bought a stolen bike on Craigslist. What do you do?

Why on EARTH would you buy even a once worn pair of running shoes off of ebay? Were they made out of CARBON? Last produced in '72? Ran your fastest marathon in a like pair in the '80’s? What gives?

For a stolen bike contact the local police dept. (I’m guessing this was a local sale) to see if the bike was reported missing.

Discontinued shoe. Its a pretty rare find, and they actually do look like they’ve been used ~1 time. .
