So, will Stadler put the boots to Brown on his home turf ? Can Gordo bike with the top guys and run sub 2:50 like at IMC. What about McFadden. Will he do the 62/4:30/2:50 deal ? What about the Swedes from EpicCamp. Can they do an F1 pace bike and hold off on the run ?
He did say his swimming had improving after that swim camp so I’m sticking with my time but I will add 21 secs cos I like the tentative 22 on your estimate. Wonder what Bunnyman and Mr. Tibbs reckon. Gentlemen?
My prediction: This is going to be awesome! Light rain this morning. Went for a swim. Water temp is just right, maybe 65 degrees or so (like it cold). The water is so clear, I was looking at these little white dime sized round things on the bottom, and realized they were actually golf balls way down there… You can use the ridges in the sand to guide you just like a lane marker, hardly ever need to sight ahead. I’m psyched about the swim anyway.
It’s certainly stronger than the past couple of years, it has the who’s who of Australian long course racing, except no Luke Bell ? Still lacks some strong internationals, at least a couple of Germans making the trip this year. Last year was a bit disappointing, McCormack, Bell, Shortis and then nothing. One hell of a strong AG race though, no easy Hawaii spots downunder.
Brown will take 1st, and Stadler and Andersson will battle it out for second and third. The Baron will hunt them down during the run, and will come within 2 minutes of both of them. Gordo runs a 2:52 after coming off the bike in 8th to take 5th.
Very few of you guys have McFayden in your top 5. Don’t know what he is up to, but when he is on, his bike-run is up with the best in the sport. Too bad he does the lame 62 min swim and gives away 10-14 min on guys like Brown. I still put him in my top 5.
