I’m trying to get my nutrition plan together for IMFL this Nov. Last year I used Carbo Pro, thermotabs, Clif bars, and GU. I felt very good for the entire bike, but my stomach was pretty edgy for most of the run. I ended up switching to chicken broth and that seemed to work fairly well until they ran out…Anyway, I’ve recently experimented with G-Push on some long training runs and it works great! Only problem is they don’t make it anymore. Are there any other products that are similar (galactose)? I really think that my stomach couldn’t handle the Carbo-Pro that late in the race.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
I used dilluted E-gels on the run 3:1 @IMLP. I also utilized Enduralytes as well (64 tabs over the course of the day). I have a sweat issue so electrolytes were a priority. The e-gels provide 150 calories with 231mg of sodium. Taking them straight, they are a bit strong but dilluted with water and washing them down at each aid station worked assume. This was the first IM I ran the entire run and had no cramping. Good luck in IMFL.

i believe in keeping it simple and using what’s available on the course (providing it sits well with you as tested in training). at imlp this year, i did a gu every 25 minutes and a bottle of gatorade every 40 on the bike. for the run i alternated water and gatorade, miles 1-13 and then added coke and chicken broth to the mix after that. finished in 11:27 with no stomache problems.
