IM Louisville Special "Food" Bag question

I was reading the IM Louisville athlete book. I saw what I had always called a special needs bag is now a special “food” bag. I do not want to break any rules. I was planning on putting a scond set of shoes and socks in my bag for the run due to my high sweat rate and how soaked my shoes get. Is it ok to put clothing in the bag? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that in keeping with the Kentucky theme, the only thing they're allowing is barbecue. I might be wrong about that...

ps. don’t they also mention that you will not be getting that bag back?

I am glad you posted this GARRETT. I had the same question…i.e. I like to put an extra tube/co2 in my bike special needs along with extra sox’s…maybe something motivational in the run special needs.
This is my 2nd IM and was surprised to hear that it was for only food.
Some of you “more” experienced people, or someone from the L’ville staff, can you comment?

Are you sure it was not spelled “Special Fud Bag”? It is Kentucky you know.

Keep in mind that you typically do not get your special needs/fud bag back after IM races. You might be minus 1 pair of running shoes.

OK, assuming I DO NOT CARE if I get it back (I ain’t putting nare shoes in thar bag) just a tube/co2…so, anyone know? allowed?

just hide the c02 and tube in a resealed bag of chips. that way you have insurance and a salty snack :).

Seriously, can anyone who has done hawaii comment?

they have shoes in Can tucky.

I can’t imagine them checking every bag like the line at the airport. Maybe they just say food now because there will be no effort made in returning them. If you don’t mind not seeing it again, put whatever you want in. And I think for IMLOU, they should be called “feed bags.”

If I can’t have a Playboy mag in there, how am I going to rub one out at the halfway Kybo?

Did I just type that outloud?
