IM Louisville for spectators

This is my first IM and my family (Mom, brother, and sister-in-law) will be there. Any suggestions for things they can do on Sunday to pass the time? Good places to eat? Is the La Grange loop festival worth it? General IM spectator info? Thanks for any help.

great places to eat on Frankfort ave and Bardstown road. Downtown is the Louisville Slugger Museum, the Muhammad Ali Museum, A skate park. There’s a bowling alley at 4Th Street Live! The State fair is in town and there is Kentucky Kingdom (water park and rides)

My wife will be at the race spectating and she is planning on going out to La Grange. We won’t have a car but the details show a shuttle bus to La Grange…at least she will be able to see me twice out there and then get back downtown for the run and finish. From all accounts the finish line at 4th Street live is a great atmosphere!

I did Louisville 2 years ago, and had some friends come down for it. They went to LaGrange, then after I passed on the second loop, they hit up another location on the return to watch for a bit, before heading into town for the run. They didn’t complain about being bored except on my slow-as-dirt (for me) second loop, when they sat in a bar right there at the finish and had a beer or 2. From my perspective it looked like some people were hanging in Lagrange for a long while and making the most of it - grills, tents, etc… right next to the road, and it looked like a decent amount of stuff going on in the town. once they are downtown for the run, they have the IM store if so inclined, the whole 4th Street Live area, and a bunch of the downtown attractions right there.

Best of luck.

Rob

Have them bring us more watermelon in LaGrange.
