I am looking for training program to improve my cycling with a goal of a in-the-pack finish for a criterium. I was hoping to find something similar to what slowtwitch offers on the mainpage for tri training programs (newbie and intermediate, sprint/oly). Does anyone know of something out there like this that’s free? I’ve searched on other sites, and done some googling, but have yet to find it.
Thanks in advance.

Wow. Straight to page 4 in about as many hours. I’m going to have to change the subject line. Bumb.
lol. I’ve seen training programs for swim/run/tri for free, but never biking. Personally, speaking as someone who has finished some cat 5 crits in the top 3, why not just find a local group ride to ride with 2-3 times per week. It would probably help more then any free online plans would.
The best way to train for crit races is…to race. Sounds simple , but it is true. Look for a local training series in your area and start there. Most training crits will let you take laps off. This way you can hang in with the pack until you get dropped, take a lap or two off, and then jump back in. Before you know it you be finishing with the pack. You can also work on short intervals (3-5 min) by yourself.
I’m assuming you’re a Cat5? If so, race once a week, and go for a fast group ride each Tue or Wed for 4 or 5 weeks straight, and you won’t have a problem finishing your crit.
There’s also lots of info on how to race a crit on this site. search for posts by fredly or roadie.
