Has anyone read Macca’s book " I’m Here to Win"?
Is it worth the $30??
Curious what people thought.
I saw it at Walmart yesterday.
Library cards are free.
I’m here to place pretty ok!
Yeah, I definitely thought it was an interesting read. If you’re in the Macca hater crowd then you probably won’t like it so much. Also, you can get it on Amazon for more like $17.
I received it as a gift. It provides some nice insight to his physical training and mental games. I wasn’t in the Macca camp but am warming up to him after reading it.
X 1 on finding it on Amazon for cheaper or at the library for free.

Great read! I liked it a lot!
I’m here for you.
I like the book. At first, i find the title ridiculous. But reading the book he clarifies the moto behind de title. A good book. I bought the Kindle e-book (more cheap). It´s a little bit repetitive, but…ist´s a good book.
Macca explains (from his point of view) the stir with Staddler, and talks about his first experiences in Kona (where does the book’s title).
P.s.: not a good read to Macca haters
.
Great book, I read it over and over and over…
Quick Hijack…
Macca always talk about to have the mental edge against his competitors but whe he told Andreas (final miles): “this is like iron war” wasn’t he exposing his plan (or thoughts) to Andreas?
at that point in a run theres not too much tactical you can do.
either you are the faster guy or you are not.
they each knew each others plan. go really fast at some point and win =)

I read it. It’s worth reading; good stories and insight, but a lot of “…I was the first to ever…”, “…I’m the only one to ever…”, “…I’m the biggest man to ever…”, etc.
A good as well as a biography it particularly explores the psychology from his point of view leading up to his last Hawaii win. No too sure what you would make of it as one of his competitors, but i guess it is simply pure Macca.

And so many mates…sooooooo many mates.

agree but why telling him what “might” happen ahead of time ![]()
but how about if Andreas was more aware and try to set up macca at the aid station? hit the gas before the aid station so macca couldn’t drink anything?
Macca said that he “set up Andreas” at the station which I think is BS because he took a couple of drinks like Adreas! the only thing he did diff was to hit the gas after the last cup… IMHO
It’s good. The audio is good as well for running or driving…or whatever.

I don’t think this is quite right. The NBC broadcast has confused the facts of what happened.
You’re referring to the second to last aid station, where both runners took aid, after which Macca made a small dig. But the Raelert chased down this attack.
The final move came, I believe, a mile later, at the final aid station. There Raelert called out for coke, and when he did, Macca attacked, and that was the winning move.
The NBC broadcast cuts straight from the first small dig to Macca cruising down Alii drive.
I enjoyed it, fun read with some good training insight and advice.

I liked the book. I am not competing for podium so much of his tactical discussions didn’t apply to me, but I did enjoy his talks of blocking out the pain. When i began suffering in Louisville, I thought about the book and the importance of just blocking out the pain.
As for Raelart–I haven’t heard him discuss the race, but Macca has used the same run strategy before in races (Wildflower) where he slows down a bit to let the faster runner catch him and then make a race of it at the end. Not sure if Andreas knew that or not.
