I'm gonna try out Vitruvian shoes

Anyone out there wear these with Orthotics?

Irony of ironies . . .

“I understand that different shoes work for different people but $30 for a pair of closeout Vitruvian shoes seemed like a good deal so I ordered up a pair just to try them out. Maybe they’ll feel good…I’m excited to try them out.”

What a bunch of lemmings! I can’t believe how you all go get all hot and bothered and all just start ordering shoes to beat the band. What a joke.

Oh, almost forgot, I ordered a pair on Monday, and they came this morning while I was out on my am run. I didn’t believe the email confirmation that the shoes would arrive two days later but they did. Going to give ‘em a try tomorrow.

I wear orthotics and spoke to Chuck yesterday and he tells me that one long term wearer of inserts now does not need to with the 11 version. Ordered mine yesterday and will try with and without orthotics.

I found out about them on this fine board through the tireless work of docfuel. Ordered a pair because my 2004 Nike Pegasus was giving me knee troubles. I’m 6’4, 185 lbs, so obviously I’m concerned about running in flats, and i’ve had knee troubles also w/ an older Nike flat.

Got mine last week put in a good hour-long run or so last weekend, and have to say that so far it’s promising. They roll off very nicely, are light enough (at size 14, everything’s an anchor), and fit my feet very well. At $60 I’d call them a good buy (comparing to the $85 Pegasus), and the $40 is a steal. If he still has 'em, I’m going to order a 2nd pair tonight.

As for the guy who makes them - I made brief mention of my problems with the Nike without going into detail, and he told me exactly what was wrong with them. So the guy knows shoes, that’s for sure.

Bottom line, if you think less is more, then you may want to give them a try. Maybe the high-volume runners (I’m mostly a roadie so I just run when I’m being chased  can do a little mini-review in a while. It seems like a lot of folks have been buying them in the past few weeks. Maybe Dev Paul or some of the other crazies from the mega mileage week thread a while back…

THanks Joe, I will look forward to the mini-review. Anyone know how they size up to Adidas?

Thanks for insightfull and helpfull comments

I sent the web link to my sister, a coach and nationally ranked marathoner. she wanted to know the weight of the shoes and emailed them. They’re a little heavy:
men’s size 9 -
Harmony-11 5/8 oz,
Proportion II-11 5/8 oz,
Symmetry II-11 7/8 oz,
Proportion Classic-12 1/2 oz,
Symmetry Classic-13 1/8 oz.

But train heavy and race light, right?
And, hey, that Harmony would match my red bike and red DeSoto outfit so well. Style is at least as important as functionality…

Read Dr 'Dre’s commentary about them in a recent thread. They feel heavy in your hand, but run in them. They will feel like racing flats on your feet.
