I'm gonna try out Vitruvian shoes

I understand that different shoes work for different people but $30 for a pair of closeout Vitruvian shoes seemed like a good deal so I ordered up a pair just to try them out. Maybe they’ll feel good…I’m excited to try them out.

Matt, who makes these vitruvians and what makes them stand out?

also do a search - coupla threads recently

highlights include: price, simplicity of design, lack of what some consider to be marketing gimmicks, price, cool name, small company, and price.

mine are in the mail.

Thanks John, I did ask in the thread about them but didn’t see a reply.

I ordered a pair last night. Can’t go wrong for $30 no tax no shipping.

Be sure to ask Chuck for the free sticker.

Wow…I’m in as well. It’s almost a revolution. (I dunno, does 4 people a revolution make?) That guy Chuck from Vitruvian must be loving this.

Ordered mine yesterday…UPS tracking puts them at my doorstep tomorrow.

I will report back once I’ve tried them out. If they’re O.K, it’ll wind up saving me about $70 bucks versus the new Saucony Omni’s I was due for…

“Be sure to ask Chuck for the free sticker”

I thought the sticker was only for sponsored atheletes.

Dave

My wife e-mailed me an hour ago to say that mine were delivered today. I ordered them last Friday based on recommendations from this site, although I didn’t ask for the sticker - a sticker would make Chuck my primary sponsor!

I know…no tax and no shipping! How great is that!?

I think I’m gonna try too. Yesterday at work I sent an email through their site asking about the differences between the classic and new ones. I can’t remember exactly what the reply email said (I got it very quickly), but something about materials are different, the new ones are lighter and have a thinner sole. Also, return shipping is not prepaid on the Classics if you have to send them back for any reason. I was impressed with the very fast and complete reply. I can post a summary of the reply when I get home if anyone is interested…

He must get that a lot, because I just asked the same thing this morning. Here’s the relevant part:

The differences between the old and new models (both Proportion and Symmetry)

  • The new shoes are made with synthetic suede instead of synthetic leather. The suede makes the upper softer and lighter.
  • The new shoes use a compression molded midsole with sheet EVA inserts. We found a lack of consistency in shaping the sheet EVA midsoles used on the
Classics. However, we do check every pair of the Classic shoes before shipping to ensure the shape consistency.
  • The new midsoles have a lower profile. The sheet EVA midsoles used on the Classic is 12 mm thick in the forefoot and 24 mm thick in the heel. The new
midsole measures 11 mm and 20 mm respectively.
  • The Classic shoes have a second cushioning compound in the forefoot only. The new shoes also have this compound in the heel. It makes a softer,
but still firm landing if you’re a heel striker.
  • The outsole designed has changed a little. It’s the same basic design but spread out a bit. There was a tendency to bring sand and small rocks home
after a run. The wider spacing between lugs doesn’t pick up as much debris.
  • All of the above contribute to weight savings. We’ve taken 1 to 1.5 ounces of the weight of a size 9 shoe.

Hey, I just found out about them yesterday and ordered a pair that will be delivered to my sister’s place in Westchester County NY on Good Friday. I plan to be down there, so I am hoping to try them out for my Sat 2 hour run.

I had a long discussion with Chuck yesterday. Did you guys know that he worked on the ORIGINAL Nike Air Pegasus ? This shoe is like the original Kestrel 4000, or speedo bathing suit. Too cool.

Dev

I sent the web link to my sister, a coach and nationally ranked marathoner. she wanted to know the weight of the shoes and emailed them. They’re a little heavy:
men’s size 9 -
Harmony-11 5/8 oz,
Proportion II-11 5/8 oz,
Symmetry II-11 7/8 oz,
Proportion Classic-12 1/2 oz,
Symmetry Classic-13 1/8 oz.

But train heavy and race light, right?
And, hey, that Harmony would match my red bike and red DeSoto outfit so well. Style is at least as important as functionality.

The response was also said there’s a surge in demand, so, yes, a revolution.

Just order some as well. $30 how could I refuse, especially with the retro look! It will be interesting to see the diff between these and my DS trainers.

I’m in too. I should receive mine tomorrow. Yup, it’s definitely a revolution.

OK, why not - I’ll givem 'em a try
.

Anyone out there wear these with Orthotics? And with flat narrow feet?

Maybe for your after dark runs (because they look so nasty)

They kind of have that retro hip-hop look. Now you just need a gold tooth and some major bling.

I keeeed…if they work they could look like cheese for all I care.

I’m pretty certain that Chuck doesn’t have any sponsored athletes. If you send him a picture of yourself competing in them, he’ll post it on his site. You can see a pic of the fabled Dr. 'Dre there.
