OKay, after much research, I have decided to purchase a new set of zipp wheels, either 999 or 909. I have ridden 404 in the past.
Here is my question: Can anyone think of a situation in which you would
a) Want to ride the rear disc, AND
b) prefer the 909 front (58mm) to the 999 front (82mm)
It seems to me that if conditions were ever like that, then it would be better to just put my 2001 Ksyrium training wheel on the front and ride it with the disc (even though that wouldn’t look good). I’m 150-155 lbs, and cycling is my strongest sport.
I agree. I am only 138 lbs. 5’6" and I use a Hed Deep front (90mm) and Hed disc. If it’s too windy for that…it’s too windy period. I am like you, cycling is my best sport. I am also a motorcyclist. I don’t know if that does actually help! Anyway, get the 999. You’ll probably love it. I would have, but I can only afford HED right now.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I emailed HED and they told me that they would have to build one because they don’t stock the wheel. They said it would be $400. I tried calling up Tri-zone and got lucky. (I live like 8 miles from them). They said they had one but it was built in 2003. Brand new, but old stock. So I snapped it up a about a month ago. At a nice price of $316. I think it was their only one. AND! it’s 700c
