I'm going to be in Tucson, riding routes?

I’m going to be in Tucson for a conference the middle of March for about 5 days and I’m looking for some riding routes. I hope to do do 60-100 miles/day. I’d like to have some routes in advance so I do not have to spend time trying to figure out where to go.

Group rides might be a stretch time wise, but I would like to find out about any that are going on. I am planning on bringing my 'cross bike with road tires as it is the most durable travel wise. I am thinking of shipping it to the hotel the week before to save on bike fees at the airport. Is Mt Lemmon close?

The conference is at the Omni National Golf Resort and Spa. I’ll probably try to stay there.

Thanks.

You’re about a 35 min drive from the base of Lemmon but you have several options depending on the distance you want to ride before and after the climb. Another good ride from your hotel is to head north on Oracle to San Manuel and back-it’s about 70 or so miles. PM me if you want some more details.

take care,

you don’t need to be a member to search for rides based on an address…it will filter types of ride for duration terrain etc.

Lots of options there.

Go to any bike shop or to the Mecca, Trisports.com, and ask for a free Tucson city bike map. Then ask them to show you the routes to (in order clockwise from north) Mt. Lemmon, Sonoita, Madera Canyon, Mission Rd mines loop (Shootout route), Kitt Peak, the Tour of the Tucson Mtns route, and Oracle. Best to show on a map than scribe here. Too many good rides in Tucson for a short blurb here.
