my goal is to beat Jalabert out of the water and when he blows by me on the bike, try to latch onto his wheel for just a moment or two - just to say that I drafted off a legend like him (just kidding, of course, on the drafting comment

My goal is to get to the end of the Promenade des Anglais before getting passed by him.

You think he’ll improve that much over Kona? He went 9:19 at Kona with a 4:45 / 3:11 bike and run. I’m guessing that his bike split might be a touch slower in France as a result of the hills - but, then again, I wonder if those climbs will really have much of an effect on him. On the other hand, the run course is pancake flat and (hopefully) cooler temps than Kona - so, maybe he picks up some time there.
Plus, he’s on his home soil.
