Still on the fence if I am doing IM Florida due to an injury. Thinking about booking a hotel that is easy to cancel compared to a condo. Has anyone stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites on Panama City Beach Pier Park Area??? Any thoughts
You can book a hotel or condo week of race as there is lot of capacity and little demand if you want to wait. Or book a hotel and if you know you will do the race, look at condos on vbro.com right before the race and cancel your hotel.
I found a condo at Board Beach two weeks ago for reasonable price.
I have two injuries I’m struggling with…if I do race I’ll be walking the run.
Holiday Inn Sunspree is pretty nice, if you are taking family and small kids. It’s on the beach, at 1M of the bike, and most importantly…right across the street from the Waffle House. It has a full size frig and microwave, but no stove. It’s a typical room, two beds. But otherwise, there are plenty of condos through www.vrbo.com
Keep in mind that Panama City is a resort community that is set up to handle spring breakers and those alike. It can handle way way way more people than what the Ironman brings as far as lodging is concerned. You can wait until the last moment to book and still won’t have any issues.
The Summit is next to the finish line. It is both a condo and a hotel. For condo, you go through the owner directly or sites like vbro.com. For the hotel option, you go directly through the hotel for booking. I’ve seen hotel vacancy signs outside of that place on race weekend.
