IM FL bike question

OK, so I do a lot of my riding on a Litespeed (vortex) and have a Guru for racing. I have been riding the Guru a LOT lately though with IM FL looming large. Raced 6 tris this year on the Guru. Just did a century on the Litespeed. I have been experimenting with putting aero bars on the Litespeed and I swear I “feel” better on it. I am thinking about using it (with the Zipps of course) at IM FL instead of the Guru since the minimal aero benefit of the Guru will be awash if I can’t stay aero (read comfortable) for 5 + hours.

Any comments (other than the typical race what you train, etc. - I’ve heard all that). Some do, some don’t. Steve Larsen rides almost exclusively a road bike, then switches to a TT bike. Stadler only rides what he races - what does this forum think? Obviously, I am neither of them and have been successful on both bikes (i.e. they fit great and I have been on them both for 3 years) for a while.

Just remember you have to run a marathon after you get off the bike. I’d say comfort is an important factor.

Is the litespeed more comfortable for “riding” or “time-trialing”? Also, is the comfort of the vortex going to fry your legs for the run? Just some things to consider.

At the end of the day, ride what you are most confident with.

More or less echoing Stallion, I would say if you feel better on the Litespeed (and don’t have any data to suggest that running after riding the Guru vs. Litespeed is better or worse), go with your gut.

Just don’t be thinking at mile 80 “damn, I wish I had made the other choice…” Decide, then ride…and don’t look back.

Funny - that is exactly what was going through my mind. I know I could ride either bike and should run the same off either. I don’t want the second guessing thing at mile 80 either  I’m not even sure why I posted this query, just looking for any info to help I guess …

Probably will come down to gut feeling. Thanks -

I also have a Litespeed (ultimate) and a Guru (cron-alu). I also feel a little more comfortable on the Litespeed but for some reason my legs feel much better on the run after riding the Guru. My only guess is that its from the different angles.

See ya in Florida (on my Guru)
