So Cozumel is coming up soon, Cant wait.
I’ve been digging the web for some watt/speed data to satisfy my curiosity, and have not been able to find any.
Does anyone have any to share, both from windy and calmer years ?
thx thwitchers

I posted this last year on ST, and a few others responded.
I went 4:58ish on 3 w/kg. Started to fast, as first hour was 3.3 w/kg.
With good equipment and a good position sub 5 is very doable on 3 w/kg. I went about the same at Chesapeakeman on 3w/kg last year as well. Both course measured at 114.5 & 115.4 on my Joule.
Bike was Trek 9 series SC w/ Firecrest 404’s. Aero helmet for each race. Tires were 700x23 Conti GP4000, not speedsters by any stretch.
Thanks for sharing. Can you also share you height/weight? Just trying to get a better feel for W/CdA vs W/kg.
Thanks,

Thanks for all the good data guys, had read a million different reports of the bikecourse. But nothing beats raw data. Would be nice to get my first sub5 bike done (pr. 5.01 damn ![]()

W/Kg is the number. drag does not matter, as clothing, shoes, wheels, aero bottles, helmets etc… are all different and who actually knows their actual coefficient of drag. Address what you know and what you can control realtime, w/kg. I know if I can hold 3.1-3.2 for the bike I can go sub 5. I can control that.
Do not go out too hard in the first hour. My best 5+ hr rides have had a first hour that was right on or below my final w/kg average. After an overexcited first hour at Cozumel, I settled down and I religiously kept an eye on my Joule.
Do well and go sub 5.
