Been doing the sport seriously for about 3 years and have noticed a trend. About this time every year give or take a few weeks, I seem to develop some sort of knee pain. It usually starts after the weather warms up enough to finally take the bike outside (I’m in NJ), but still cold enough that you have to be pretty bundled up, hence, tights. Mostly happens a few weeks in after getting some quality miles on the road. My thinking is the tights cause the slightest compression of my patellafemoral joint and my issues stem from there. Well, today temps were mid 50’s by the time I got out, so I just used shorts and everything went perfectly fine. So let’s hope the warm is here to stay in lovely dirty jerz!
The cold temperature tightening up the patellar is what causes my tendonitis issues, not covering them up.
