While I have heard that Coeur 'd Alene is a very beautiful place, I have also heard that it is very much a small town and amenities can be lacking. Is there any truth to this?
Is there a grocery store open in the evenings? Are there many restaurants to choose from? Do I need to pack in my pre race dinner?
It’s not that small. It’s been a couple of years but they have at least one large grocery store and enough eateries to satisfy the 2000+ people when I was there. If you’re desperate and things get too crowded, Spokane is only 30 minutes away.
I shopped at a Safeway (which is a large chain) store when I was there last year. It was open at 9 PM as I recall, since the was the latest I was there.
I agree with the other post, it’s not that small of a town.
You’ll be surprised to find indoor plumbing and electricity too…
CDA has everything you’ll need. It’s a wonderful little city with good restaurants, several large supermarkets to choose from, even a Costco. I know I was in a Barns and Noble pretty late and I’m pretty sure I was in a supermarket after 9:00 at night. I even found hard boiled eggs in the deli for my pre race breakfast. (the eggs work for me :)) CDA has plenty of amenities without the frenzy of bigger cities. What was really amazing is people obey the speed limits around town and don’t tailgate, unlike Southern Cal.
