After a ride yesterday, some guys and I walked down to the lake to soak the knees and quads. Holy Sh$T!!! That water if freakin’ cold! I can’t really give a good estimate of temperature, but it was bad enough that the feet went numb in about a minute and there was no way in hell I would’ve gone in up to the jewels. The weather around here has been terrible with most days over the last 30 below 70 degrees.
For everyone doing IMCdA, I’m posting to warn you that buying a neoprene swim cap might not be a bad idea. Don’t wait until the race expo because I doubt any vendor is going to have 1,800 neoprene caps on hand. Even if we get 2 weeks of 85 degree weather prior to the race, the water temp probably is going to remain uncomfortably cold. If you’re considering swimming w/o a wetsuit, you’re already an Ironman if you just survive the swim.
