IM Canada run elevation

I’m considering IMC for next year, but I can’t find a run elevation chart. What is the run like? I have some achilles issues and have to be careful running hills (but cycling hills is fine!)

I’ll say it’s flattish (very slight gains and declines) for about 10 miles as it goes through the city and along the east shore of Skaha Lake. ABout 2-3 miles before the turnaround you hit some hills, turnaround and back the same route. No idea on the actual elevation gains though.

dug is right, as far as I recall. There were a few short hills in the middle of the run, but nothing too tough (I walk up them anyways to keep the HR in check).

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the info. The IMC site has only the map, no elevation, and on NA Sports the elevation charts are missing the IMC run. I can handle rolling hills.

… There were a few short hills in the middle of the run, but nothing too tough …

The old course description used to say the run was flat, and my training partner and I used to joke that it was flat except for the hills. This is an out and back course and the hills build towards the turn around, and then of course you do them again.

I can’t say I would call these small or short, but other than one 30 foot section I can think of the gradients aren’t crazy (say like Wildflower).

So other than what I would call the fairly challenging hills near the turn around the run is fairly flat. By the end of an Ironman though the gradual rise of Main Street at mile 23 feels like a mountain.

A couple of years ago, I toured the run course with a GPS (with barometer). The course seems to change every year slightly, bu the main part will stay the same.

All in all it is fairly flat. There are some gentle hills, but nothing too imposing. This will be my first time racing it, so I’ll report back on how it feels after the swim and bike!

Wow, great elevation chart! You are clearly more savvy with the computer than I am.

I look forward to hearing the post race report. Tell me how bad those “legendary climbs” are.

Thanks to everyone!
