IM bike training - Ann Arbor

Spouse has qualified for Kona (it will be her ninth time). I’m unable to train with her this summer, so she wants to find others to do the bike rides with. Suggestions? Anyone planning a long one this Sunday?

there’s a bunch of Trikats doing 75-100m rides nearly every weekend over here as they prepare for IMOO. i’m sure they’d love to have Karen join in the fun.

Kalamazoo is a little further (100 mlles, m/l, from AA) than she wants to drive.

ok…tried anyway.

best wishes for her prep.

How long is long?

I was gonna do a long solo ride this weekend but I was gonna hopefully get started early, 7-8am or so, so I can do house work the rest of the day.

Otherwise I do 1 AAVC ride during the week (usually tuesday) and thursday I ride for a bit and then hit the hills (Barton, Broadway) really hard. If this is up her alley I’m more than willing to have some company.

Hey Lew,

Obviously Sat isn’t Sunday, but isn’t the Hell of a Ride Sat?

Shawn

Yes, it is. Unfortunately, we have previous commitments all day Saturday.

Hello,

This is from the Wolverine website.

Northville MAGS parking lot (sw corner of Center and Main) across from the Northville Post Office. Moderate-fast pace, 50-60 miles. – 9:00 am, Daylight Savings Time (Eastern Standard Time 10:00 am start time / weather permitting) (Contact: Eric Rafeld erafeld@twmi.rr.com)

Call it about 20-21 mph average while riding, decent roads, but some rough sections, tends to head out to whitmore lake area.

PS

Why can’t you train with her, hope your OK, also how about a Sheila update?

Shawn

Marty,

She would like to do 100 or so - but could add on the end if you didn’t want to go that far. She wants to do her long ones at a pretty moderate pace for now: 18-19 mph, 20 if she doesn’t have to pull. Going early is fine - I’ll be setting the swim course (and assorted other tasks) for the Waterloo Tri that morning.

I sent a private e-mail to your aol address. Call us - or give us a number and time to call you.

Lew

Hey - I’m up for the Kalamazoo group rides. Do you know where I can get more info (routes, times, days, etc)?

Hello Lew,

I could probably ride some on Sunday morning. I just did my long ride yesterday, so I am only good for about 40 miles. I live on Halfmoon lake if your wife is interested.

Thanks . . . but she found a group from the tri club that rides long each Sunday. I believe they leave from Barton Park, usually at 8 a.m.
