Any bike top tips for Ironman austria???

  1. Don’t Draft… if you can that is. HUGE packs will form and it will be extremely hard to get out of the crowd. in 2002 I was in the front of a pack minding my own business and had a photo taken… Ironman LIVE posted the pic with “marshals, calling all marshals” as the headline. Not many drafting penalties handed out in European races.

  2. the one big hill is not long but it is steep for a bit… do not blow up the first go round. take it steady and work your way into the hill instead of blowing mid-way. You will thank me when you get to the last lap!

… other than that… have as much fun as you can and enjoy Austria! Klagenfurt is a beautiful city and Karnten a beautiful area. ERIK

Enjoy the ride - the scenery is really fantastic. Don’t get too stressed over how crowded the course is.

Enjoy Austria! any plans on traveling to other areas? I highly suggest heading to Hitler’s “Eagles Nest” not too far from Klagenfurt and also head to Salsburg and Vienna. Beautiful cities with phenomenal history. I am jealous! ERIK

Now theres a thought!!! I didn’t realise the eagles nest was close by!!! maybe worth a cycle up there the week after!!
