Hi,
Wondering if anyone knows if they have resolved the bike route issues for next years IM Arizona. I had heard that the Ironman organisation had held on accepting entries for next years event till it was resolved. I don’t want to enter and waste my time, but i also dont want to miss getting and entry.
cheers
From their website. I’m sure they’ve signed up more since then.
More than 1050 athletes signed up for Ironman Arizona
April 18, 2005
TEMPE, Ariz.-More than 1050 athletes have signed up for the 2006 Ironman Arizona triathlon, set to take place on Sunday, April 9, 2006.
Entries are going less than briskly—the last time I checked the entry list (couple days ago) it showed just under 1300 entries…you have time.
thanks, but does anyone know if they have resolved the bike route problems?
I had heard/read somewhere (might have even been here in another thread) that they were working on a 2-loop course, but that is far from confirmed info. There are no updates on the IMAZ or IMNA websites specifically addressing this issue…you might drop an email to someone there to see what kind of response you get.
What bike course issues are you refering to specifically? IMO the 3.25 loop course they had was fine. Less crowded than some of the oly’s discussed on ST recently. They said they were working on two different two loop courses.
From what I understood at the race, and the days following it, (and let me disclaim here that this was all hearsay there…), but the reason the bike loop changed from the two loop course was because there was a problem with the garbage trucks accessing the dump on one of the roads that the course covered.
Supposedly, moving the race to Sunday will/has resolved this issue, and the course will “revert” back to the originally planned 2-loop course.
Again, no hard facts that this is the case…just what I heard…
