I'm an Idiot- need some advice

So in the midts of finishing up my masters in systems engineering, having a second kid, wife returning to work, managing a 3 year old, and starting a new job— I started my ironman training plan-first time at this distance. Fast forward 12 weeks -School is over(whoohoo), wive is almost done for the summer(teacher), and work is settling down. I finally took a look at where in my training plan I am. Turns out started it a month early… I am doing the Matt Fitzgerald Super simple 20 week plan- pretty straight forward, I think its relatively low volume and I’ve been feeling good so far about how the body is responding to it. ." A" race is IM Louisville aug 24th, next race is Rev 3 Williamsburg on June 15th. So, do I “recycle” my weeks for 4 weeks until catchup as a sorta expended recovery/taper for Rev 3 half? Or keep increasing my distance till hit the plan max and then keep that volume for 4 weeks until till the taper starts for IML?

I’d just repeat your current month. There’s nothing wrong with another month of base type training.

The bigger the base the higher the pyramid as they say!

Repeat 3 of the base weeks and keep one in the bank as an extra recovery/make-up week if you need later into the plan.

Just as Devlin said another month should be beneficial as base training. In the end this probably will turn out actually to be a good “mistake”.

Who wouldnt want another base layer to their foundation.

This is a good thing. Sans idiot.

Definitely do the most current month over again.

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds unanimous that I should use this to my advantage and build slowly. Given that this is my first year at this training load-may pay dividends in mid August. Plus a potential recovery week depending on how feel after rev 3 half. Now just need to make sure my wife doesn’t find out that didn’t “need” to start training so early!
