Had a choice of three events this weekend. Either a sprint tri, 1/2 IM aquabike or a century ride with the roadies.
Decided on the century ride with the roadies.
Please forgive me. ![]()

I think you deserve a 2 week ban from Slowtwitch. I will see if Jordan can make this happen.
You’re lucky you reported yourself, under terms of the plea agreement two weeks is the reduced sentence.
Steve Larsen said he used to train like a roadie who did triathlons, so you’re in good company.
There, I included Steve Larsen in the post, that should stir things up. Other buzzwords include, PowerCranks, Lance, Cervelo, Zipp and gay senatorial airport sexual solicitations…ooops…wrong forum.
Take a cue from politics: rationalize!
Did you need the bike miles? If you’re training for a long tri, a sprint might not be appropriate training. Its all in how you package it…
Great choice…keep it REAL!
tfun~
That’s alright, I’ll keep you company. After a couple years of only cycling, just started training for my first tri and bought a tri bike yesterday. My roadie friends may never forgive me. ![]()
I’d pick the century too.
are you showing up with aerobars on your bike? Roadies always love that LOL
“Aerobars? Yes or No.”
Absolutely not. Like I said, it’s riding with the roadies. Nobody will be riding a tri bike. A number of riders also have tri bikes, but all will be bringing the road bike for this. I’m taking my Kestrel Talon in the road position without clip-ons. There is a rule of not using aero bars in the pace line. You can have them on the road bike (only a few riders do) but you obviously can’t use them on a group ride.
I did a century with this group last May and it was fairly quick. You get some strong riders talking rotating pulls and the time can go quickly.
I dont understand the problem? I am doing a sprint (practice sprint) on Sat then a century on Sunday.
There are 2 days in a weekend…
"There are 2 days in a weekend… "
Actually 3 days this holiday weekend. Unfortunately all three events are scheduled on the same day.

At the same time?

I like where your mind is at.
Sounds like an IM with short runs and swim.
“an IM with short runs and swim”
AKA a long bike ride, which is back to where we started ![]()
Nothing wrong with multiple events close together in general though. Could be fun, are they close enough together to make it work?
You rock!!!
Centuries are so much funner!!!
It is ok as long as you ride a Cervelo!
"Way to go man. "
About a 1/2 of the guys/gals in our roadie group also do triathlons to some degree - everything from teams, and sprints to IM. We also have other guys with some good road race experience as well as just hardcore recreational roadie types. But none of the participants has a problem understanding the difference between roadie riding and tri riding and the advantages/weaknesses of the two different bike geometries. I’m always amazed at how clued out some of the ST posters are about road bikes or roadie riding. Or vice versa on some of the roadie forums.
I did not see this post
Yes you are a trader now. A kestrel…
