Signed up for the first Dualthlon of the year on Sunday, and it was pissing a 44 degree rain with no hope of ending, so I rolled over and went back to sleep. Still feel a little guilty. Anyone here do the Gearwest Duathlon? How was it, was there a full turnout or was there more like me?
I skipped the Grosse Ile duathlon on saturday, which is pretty disappointing. I was to do a relay with my wife (she grew up on GI, and we live 10 minutes away by bike). There were possible thunderstorms rolling through, it has been storming all week (hard), and when I woke up to get ready to leave it started raining. We had purposely not signed up in case it was thunderstorming, so once we woke up and saw the rain, the bed looked a lot better. It turned out to be decent weather for the race, but I don’t regret spending the quality time with the wife sleeping in.
Still gets me though. I would have loved to do that race.
I never would have believed it, driving through a thundering downpour to get there, but the Grosse Ile Du happened with no problems from weather. Heck, the sun even came out before the end of the race, if you were slow enough, which I was.
Yeah, I know, that sunshine was killing me. The day turned out to be nice, although a bit windy. I wanted to go out and hammer the bike course later in the day, but I was stuck in the kitchen all day cooking for 70 people. It was absolute torture.
