This is my inaugural post, so first of all: Hi & aloha!
Got my M18 slot this weekend and will be coming to Clearwater. However, this is planned as the final event of my operation “burning autumn”: Kona → Maui → Clearwater. So what i’m looking for is an inexpensive apartment
- somewhere around pier 60 (which is the place where the worlds are supposed to be held, right?)
- for 2-3 athletes
- for approx. two weeks
- requirements: small kitchen. And quiet roads might come in handy as well
at least we don’t wanna live in an area where there’s nothing but highways. Staying there for 2 weeks, we might go for one or the other training ride …
Anyone who could help with additional information regarding inexpensive apartments, places to stay or the road situation?
Check VRBO.com. I booked a little cottage 1/2 mile from Pier 60 in a little residential area. It was perfect, and I was able to walk/ride to transition and walk to alot of restaurants.
No problem. Don’t expect too many quiet roads…it’s a fairly built-up urban area. A couple miles in from the beach though is the…I think it’s the “Pinellas Trail”. It’s a bike trail that goes for several miles that you could ride. I didn’t discover it until the day before the race unfortunately, but I was only in Clearwater for a couple of days prior to the race last year, so I didn’t need to get in any really long rides anyway.
is it a paved road? Usually when talking about bike trails I’m thinking about fire roads and single tracks. Might be a results of my offroad background though
