I was checking some photos from Auckland Half Ironman and saw this one:

Nothing special, but the guy is carrying a Rudy Project TT helmet that I believe is illegal in triathlons. Also interesting is the fact that the “guy” had time to put some shoe cover socks too…weird.
Any thoughts?

No numbers or chip, which would make me think the photo was staged, but there is a rider in the background.
I read that there was a relay division, so maybe that’s a cyclist doing a relay. But it’s still a triathlon and that helmet is illegal under any set of rules throughout the world… I hope 
I had a guy go around me at Im Florida last fall with shoe covers on. Weird sight in an Ironman!
