If you owned a bike shop

And you wanted to start evening computrainer type sessions, what type of program/ equipment would you go with?
I haven’t kept up with what’s out there, I just sit on my rollers and trainer all winter typically, but I’d like to do something to replace the summer shop rides, hard, and with a group, comeraderie, etc. but indoors. Looking at another tough winter “they” say and I’m lining up options.
I have a barn/studio available to me, plenty of room.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure there is a free coffee machine and lots of old magazines lying around a couple of really comfortable sofas - it will be a sell out whatever sessions you do.

I do just that every winter. I have 6 CompuTrainers in my basement (don’t have room for all 9), and run two sessions twice a week (4 sessions total = 24 spots). Basically, I’d suggest a couple of projectors synced to give you a wide screen, PerfPRO Studio software to coordinate all the CompuTrainers (ANT+ capable and it emails every athlete a complete file of what just happened, and also uploads to Strava, etc.), and plenty of Sufferfest videos (we also “race” a lot using courses and RacerMate One or 3D software, and an occasional Real Course Video or ErgVideo). PM me for pictures or setup.

Oh, and online signup is a real plus and keep you from having to answer the phone or text messages while setting up or conducting a session. I use SignUp Genius (it’s free) and works really sweet. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4cabab29a64-computrainer

PM me for the access code if you want to see how we set up our sessions and sign folks up.

McNulty, great idea! The shop I work at occasionally, but don’t own, has 4 Elite RealAxiom trainers. You can have up to 8 plugged in. In fact, there is one guy who bought his own and just brings it and then we have five.

Anyways… I rode all last winter and spring on them, and loved it. We ride Alpe d’Huez, Routes from the Giro d’ Italia, and it is awesome. We did one ride that was 43 miles or so; I can’t even do a half hour on a standard Kurt Kinetic.

I highly encourage you to look into these. (Ps donuts and coffee are a must

Coffee???

Shouldn’t *beer *be the beverage of choice?

fify.

Not sure about the technology but there is a local bike shop that has 16 Computrainers set up in a basement “studio.” There are two big projections screens and groups and ride/“race” head to head. Our race team did it once last winter as a group and it was fun. We’re booking the place twice a month this winter and open the sessions up to the whole club to fill the spots.

I can’t comment on the technology but I did think it was nice that they had one of these in front of each bike station and a pretty decent sound system for music.

Now,* why *you gotta do that?

Great feedback. Thanks all.
In the Hurt Barn, Tues and Thurs nights this winter. There will be beer and coffee and magazines and hookers and blow and computrainers (or something similar) and a big screen and old races and a guy on stilts and a face painter and an orgy.
Burning Man for cyclists. Stay tuned.
