+1 on pika packworks. Just got back from China, and in 5 years traveling domestically and internationally with the bike (Europe, Australia, China) with trek ttx and speed concept using the pika bag, I have yet to experience any damage. Where on at least on of those trips (Australia), I saw several hardshell cases come out cracked, bike damaged. The bag also still looks (almost) like new.
Knock on wood =). Ended up having to pay oversize/sport equipment charges by airlines more often than not.
