If numbers stays the same

Bush will take OH and FL and will get elected with more than 290 ec
.

  1. exit polls are crap!

  2. how does Bush get more votes than 2000? who are these people!?

  3. Anyone know a good country to move to?

Canada
New Zealand…

if Bush wins, I will seriously consider it because it will be virtually impossible to get a green card without spending millions because the new rules for immigration are going to be a major pain…
in this case, good luck finding enough people (specially qualified ones willing to teach in MSI)

Don’t bother coming to Aus. Now that Howard controls both houses lots of things are up for change. There was something on TV about Unis last night where a Lib spokesman was talking about reforming Uni related labour laws, basically calling profs etc. a bunch of slackers who don’t have to perform.

well, it’s true in some colleges…
but anyway, considering what Oz pays professors… :frowning:

I thought getting work papers for Oz was tough.

Long live the counter coup.

OC uber alles.

The only two countries that I’d consider immigrating to would be OZ and NZ. I’m fascinated with both. I spent some time outside of the Exmouth Bay area, at Harold E. Holt. Worked with some OZ SAS fellows. Hit NZ when we ran our guys out that way before taking them down to the Antarctic back in the old Operation Deep Freeze days.

Nice countries.

Depends on your skill set. If you’re a hairdresser you’ll have no problem (seriously!)

Yeah, there is something about all of those essential jobs that gets people in. Is IT a free ticket?

**Depends on your skill set. If you’re a hairdresser you’ll have no problem (seriously!) **

No shit? Jeez…I was hopin’ to get by on “retired, but willing to THINK about working”. No such luck, huh?

I gotta study up on this “essential job skill” thing.

“Whaddya Mean I Can’t Stay Past My Visa?” Kahuna

Yes and no. Australia runs a points system, where you get different points for different things (qualifications, age, english proficiency etc.). At the moment you need 120 points. There’s a big list of jobs for which you get points, and there’s also a much smaller list of preferred jobs which get bonus points. IT used to be on the smaller list, but not anymore. It will be again, but not sure how soon. Only stuff on the specialist list at the moment is health related I think.

All the above is assuming that you’d be trying to apply via the “Skilled Migration” track. There are many other ways of getting in, including being an elite athlete/artist, having shitloads of cash to invest etc…

More details here: http://www.immi.gov.au/migration/index.htm

cash is king. Somehow that restores my faith.

Nice place to visit, but I don’t think I would stay. When I was in law school, we hosted a traveling rugby side. I had a complete blast. My impression was that the Kiwi’s had a lighter spirit than the Aussies. The Aussies partied hard, but with a bit of a hard edge. As generalizations go, is that at all accurate?

Yep, it’s reasonably accurate.

“how does Bush get more votes than 2000? who are these people!?”

    • People fed up with Bush but too smart to vote for John “I have a plan (but it’s secret)” Kerry

“Anyone know a good country to move to?”

    • You could try France.

Don’t forget to take Alec Baldwin and Susan Sarandon with you.

“if Bush wins, I will seriously consider it because it will be virtually impossible to get a green card without spending millions”

That’s just silly. No one is going to change the immigration laws. All you have to do is be a muslim or come from Viet Nam and you’re in like Flynn.

Cousin Elwood, care to explain that comment a little more please??

bumping this since I hosed it up the first time.

I don’t understand this, Francois. Bush is proimmigration. Why do you think you will have a green card problem?

Still waiting to hear the explanation of Cousin Elwood’s comment, “That’s just silly. No one is going to change the immigration laws. All you have to do is be a muslim or come from Viet Nam and you’re in like Flynn.”

Cousin Elwood?

Waiting for Kerry to concede… Yeah, like that’s gonna happen. Sheeit, why can’t losers learn how to lose…

Anyway, in America, you can get a green card unless you’re a WASP with a college degree. We want your “tired, your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores…”

We have immigration quotas and then the lottery, none of which is likely to change. For example, in OZ they use that point system to encourage USEFUL people to come there. We don’t think that way. We give extra credit if you have aids, a criminal record or if you’re flat broke and will probably be on welfare.
