Iditarod –Versus – We All Love Dogs – Right?

Its Kona type coverage – even the same voiceover guy – and I am sure dogsled racing people the world over are saying the coverage sucks. But it’s something different to watch while on the trainer and its pretty entertaining to have floating in the background to look at between intervals. I have been a fan of the race since I read “My Lead Dog Was a Lesbian” a longtime ago.

Fire up the DVRs if you are so inclined. It goes on all month.

I was in Anchorage last weekend and saw the ceremonial start to this - a real blast to see. A beautiful but cold sunny day, large crowds, Sarah Palin (a friend got a picture with her, or maybe it was Tina Fey  ), and dogs that were more eager to get started than anybody I’ve ever seen. It’s a pity that one dog has already died.

Ever since I witnessed the story of Kirby Niukpuck (sp?), I’ve been totally hooked. I loved the down and dirty tactics of Lance last year. Looking forward to the race.
