Iden New Superman Position

That´s the best we can do! First signs would be the top pros on prototypes, I guess.

What stack and reach are you looking for? Check out www.ku-cycle.com

This is how we at Kú would look at this. Fit first! Then with your pad stack and reach defined, 650 and 525 in this case we size the frame most suitable to get you that starting position.

In this example from the CAD sizing your coordinates are in blue the frame and pad coordinates are in green. We have two sizes of basic frame the short and the long, your reach requirement to the back f the pad and your stack drive you to what we would define as an L650 (same size Rico Bogen rides). Dan has written about our process here on Slowtwitch.

We have our stock cockpit using the Zipp Vukas in different angle inclines. We also work closely with FastTT (another Dan favourite) and offer their cockpit as a standard upgrade option right at the sizing stage before anything even goes to production. No placeholder parts, that end up being binned.

Pretty close considering the bike doesn’t even exist yet. We are clearly still missing a bit of reach to your desired hand position and this may be solvable with your actual elbow position and how you use the cups on the actual bike. This process would be done interactively between us, you and your fitter to find the solution before you order. After delivery there would then be a final tuning fit with your fitter; or you can come to Amsterdam and do an aero camp on the velodrome with us where we tune you. Guaranteed we make you faster!

Just as an aside to these super long fits we are discussing, I haven’t checked the Ironman regs but for sure PTO running under WTO rules will not allow the grips to be forward of the front wheel…

No mention of any restriction in this aspect in the Ironman Competition Rules, Section 5.03 ‘Bike Specifications’

World Tri Rules:
5.2 (f) iii For draft-illegal competitions . . :
● Only handlebars and clip-on bars not extending beyond the leading edge of
the front wheel will be permitted.

What´s in the big bike box on Lionel´s porch now??

It’s probably a lactate testing machine in the box…

Probably the existing Speedmax in a Kona colorway. Most of their top athletes get special colorways for big races/wins.

Interesting, it’s always good to know where the limits are! thank you.

Haha I saw that too and wondered the same thing. I see in Talbot’s Vlog schedule that he has a Kona Bike Review scheduled for later in the series. Like others have said I expect it’s just a special color scheme. Probably that new Cosmos colorway.

Not Iden long but KB also going much longer reach.

That is quite a change - should lower his CdA somewhat, if not by a lot. Question is if he can put out as much power in this new stretched position.

IMDE is already 8 weeks back

With that chest of his and that bottle there, he has completely filled that space!

I trust the Norwegians above all to figure out exactly how much power he can get in each position. I’ve done lactate testing in different setups to try to optimize but there wasn’t enough precision. Like is 1.9 really worse than 1.8 or is it one of 100 other things? Surely there’s a method.

Even just how that Helmut is now looking WAY more aero in the new position, should give him quite a bit of wattage gain

I would think they want to sit in knowing they won’t lead the swim. They will both have massive reductions in required watt output with these setups, then rely on their run strength and freshness to win.

Unsure why you would say “Massive reductions in power” ??

Personally I went from a more compact to a more stretched position (almost as much as Blu), which was better for me (gained power) as my hip would open up more (I agree that does not look to be the case for at least KB Blu)

Their lower, more aero position ‘should’ require way less watts to sit in a group because its less drag. I can feel the effects by sitting behind a training partner in my normal position verse stretching out and getting lower on the bike when i start falling off. It’s a big difference for me. It’s not great for pulling in the front, but definitely better when sitting in.
