I was spit on while running

Tonight I was planning on going for a fairly long run. I was running along du Parc in Montreal when a strange man with a long metal stick started chasing me down the street. I am a 21 year old girl and I am pretty careful about where and when I go running. I was on a crowded street with a big pack of runners infront of me and several guys behind me. So this guy in a long trench coat with his big stick emerges from the bushes along Mount Royal and chases me along du Parc. He caught me pretty quickly, blocked my path like he was going to hit me with his stick then started spitting in my face!

I got away from him and ran down the street while he yelled some pretty disgusting things at me. However, the nice man running behind me followed me for about a mile incase the asshole came back.

That was the end of my long run.

I’m not surprised you got hassled by someone who was clearly mentally ill. There’s a lot of them out there not getting the care they need - what does shock me is question of where were all these other guys you mentioned? The pack in front of you and several behind just let a young woman get hassled like this??? It sounds like ONE guy ran with you for awhile. Chivalry may not be dead but someone better charge up the paddles.

Cool that the guy followed you but considering that he and everybody else did nothing to help you at the time is the scary part of your story. Happy you are OK.

First that mass shooting at Dawson College and now this. I thought Montreal was sane compared to Toronto.

Glad you got away from the creep. He obviously has some mental issues.

Exactly !

I know it was scary for you but I feel sorry for him. Obviously mentally ill.

Some correct drugs and he could be as normal as you and maybe even running with your group.

SAD.

At least he did not pee on you and you are okay.

I dont feel sorry for him. I wish I would have been there to put him out of comission for you.

What the??? That is nuts, crazy and scary all at the same time. Did the runners around you do anything? That was nice of the guy to run with you for a while after. That kind of stuff takes all the fun out of running. Sometimes it sucks to be a girl when you need to run after the sun goes down. I occasionally venture out after dark on my own but my rethink it next time.

I feel sorry for the next person he chases after.
