Well…at least now we know the answer to the question, “who is the biggest asshole in the world.”

Yawn.

There he goes trying to be competitive again … he’s got far more competition for the worlds biggest a-hole than he ever saw in cycling … just a small fish in a big pond.
Dave
Maybe he’s never heard of Ted Cruz.
There’s a part of me that thinks that while he certainly can comme off as an a**hole, his ego really did make him all the more vulnerable. I’m sure there’s alot that us sideliners have no knowledge of yet we’re content with the judgements we’ve formed. Not sure I’m at ease completely with that. Even so, I do respect him for acknowledging the disapointment that he caused in the survivor ranks, I think he harmed them more than anyone or anything in this entire saga. I’m one of those.
X2 and me too.

I’ve said this before, but Joe Lindsey (along with Charles Pelkey) is one of the best journalists in the bike biz. He has never pulled punches in regards to LA or doping stories. The full interview can be found here:
Some really great, tough questions form Joe. I wish he had knuckled down a bit more on the LA’s claim that he was clean during his Comeback, though. Overall, a great job by Joe, IMO.
I’d say him being an ahole was one factor in him being singled out. There are a ton of retired dopers out there still active and celebrated for titles they cheated their way to.
Late adopters to doping (and PED use) were the ones punished most harshly, and the early adopters are ignored. Personally, I think its backwards.
can’t argue there
.
“If you have had Chicken Pox, the virus is already inside of you.”
.
Of course he was singled out, but what else does he expect? He continually made himself the biggest target, all but dared people to take their shots, and then acts unfairly persecuted when they do an he suddenly can’t shake it off or bully his way out any longer.
He keeps going back to the argument that everyone else was doing it, too… true, but Tygart has no authority over the Euros, so he’s quite understandably focused on the most prominent US team/riders, who mostly worked under/for LA. Honestly, does he believe the USADA should just fade away and not even bother trying to do any policing like there’s really no problem, or is he trying to suggest there’s a ‘Real Killer’ (a la OJ) out there somewhere else that they should be after instead and they’ve just got the wrong guy? Or does he want all his former domestiques (GH, Levi, et al) hammered harder too just to make it more ‘fair’? (Of course that would also make him an asshole to throw them under the bus, considering they were on the payroll first and foremost to help him win his TdF titles.)
