I took this POTUS candidate poll

current batch of GOP candidates and Obama

I was most surprised how a majority of their position statements are unimaginative to down right stupid, and

Ron Paul was my man

.

I got Obama, with Huntsman as 2nd (Paul 3rd). Which fits.

When it was calculating it showed Bachmann first and I almost had a heart attack thinking I matched to her…

Ron Paul with Bachman and Perry in the wings
.

This only proved to show how what I want in a candidate is simply not available for me to vote for.

I ended up with Ron Paul, which is what I would expect, but really did not want to pick any of the choices on any of the questions. Most of the answers where not very close to what I would choose and tried to pick “the closests” and in several choices could have chosen several others.

I actually went thru again and clicked on the ones I definitely did NOT want, which I actually found easier.

In the first one I was Ron Paul, Michele Bachman and John Hunstman for “Who I wanted”. Who I definately do NOT want was Michelle Bachman, Barrack Obama and Rick Santorum.

So my “Second want” was my most “Not want”…so worthless pretty much. The concentrations of “Don’t wants” was much higher than in the “Wants”.

Ron, Barack, Michelle

Agree with Matt. I had to choose the answer that was sort of close for some of the questions but I ran into several that didn’t have any choices I fully agreed with.

over-think much?

Another problem is weighting. For instance, I personally care more about the economy than abortion rights or gay rights. But it seems that these things are equally weighted. So even if the questions and answers accurately reflected my views (which they didn’t exactly), the weights accorded the algorithm they used doesn’t.

I had Barack(6)/Mitt(2)/Newt(2). There were a few questions where I didn’t like any of the answers though, and basically settled on what ended up being Obama’s position. I guess that’s bound to happen since he is the only liberal on the list.

I went back and did what MJuric did…chose the things I absolutely did not want. Ended up with Bachmann(7)/Santorum(5)/Perry(4). Sounds about right.

#1. Obama
#2. Bachman (what?)
#3. Huntsman

Well at least we can agree on something…neither of us are voting for Bachman.

I do think it puts me in an odd position that the this recommends a “Vote for” and “Do not vote for” as the same person.

Quite honestly this happens to me in just about every election. I think Reps and Dems are simply mirrors of each other. One representing social freedom the other fiscal freedom and both representing the mirror for areas they want to control.

For the most part I’m half Dem, half Rep which turns out to be neither rather than “Moderate” so I’m rarely represented by any mainstream politician.

Another interesting note, would be interesting for everyone to do this and see how different the concentration was. I had similar “Agrees with” numbers which were much lower than the disagree with.

What exact does this say? Maybe we can all agree much better on the things we definitely DON’T want? Call me a little crazy but this is very much what the libertarian/Freemarket mindset is. Government should be run on those “least common denominators” not run on that which only certain groups want.

Maybe it’s time candidates start running on the things they definitely DON’T want and start eliminating everything else.

I got the sitting POTUS, ha

Nova
.

Bachman
Paul
Huntsman
.

  1. Newt
  2. Huntsman
  3. Perry

I will take #2.

Agree that the equal weighting is not right for me; economy tops and care very little for social stuff.

(1) Paul; (2) Obama; (3) Bachmann (yuck!).

Agree with others that the questions should really weighted. Also, for some of the questions, the available alternatives were pretty bad, but I suppose that’s the way it is in the race itself.

Your top candidate match is Ron Paul!
Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann were runner-ups.

I agree that Ron Paul is my first choice. I don’t think I would vote for Perry, and I’m pretty sure I would not vote for Bachmann.

Most want: Obama, Bachman, Huntsman
Least want: Bachman, Perry, Santorum

My actual ranking (sans quiz): Romney-Obama tie, Huntsman/Gingrich, Paul, Perry, Bachman, Santorum
.

I got Romney, Paul and then Obama.

Not quite what I expected…

#1. Obama
#2. Bachman (what?)
#3. Huntsman

Enough to tell you the poll is crap.

Do your homework and make your own choice.

Also, for some of the questions, the available alternatives were pretty bad, but I suppose that’s the way it is in the race itself.

I was going to complain that for about half the questions I didn’t like any of the answers. Then I remembered that for about half the questions facing us today I don’t like any of the candidates.
