I think its going to take more than a "surge" here

Afghanistan may be on its way to becoming a bigger mess than Iraq ever was:

If not Karzai, who?
We can ask the same question about Pakistan, I suppose, too.

It doesn’t seem like it’s gotten much press, but last week the Krgyzs (sp? kryzgstan) pretty much told us that they want us out of their airbases, which we use heavily to resupply Afghanistan. So who steps up and offers to help? The Russians! Can you imagine the Russians becoming involved in Afghanistan?

“Can you imagine the Russians becoming involved in Afghanistan?”

Yes, I can. They have unfinished business there

The Russians need the money that’d come from cozying back up to us and helping us deliver a Chuck Norris-style, once-and-for-all-time roundhouse kick to the head of Moolah Omar and whatever other remaining Tally-bahn whackadoos are still running around the hinterlands of Afghanistan. Now that the price of oil has slipped back down into the realm of realtive normalcy, and his economy is in danger of once again showing its world-class tendency to reward sloth and corruption, the ABBA-loving Vladimir Putin is casting about desperately for someone willing to pay up a little *baksheesh *for a night in a Moscow hot-sheet “Motel Nyet.” And we’re just the folks to pay it.
