I think I'm going to buy a Saturn Vue

Is there a way to buy these cheaper than sticker? i know i’ll get a deal on the extended warranty, but what about the rest of the car?

what made you decide on that out of curiosity? Say, as opposed to the Honda Element.

Supposedly Saturn’s selling strategy is one price…Scion, Toyota’s spinoff aimed at the youth market, has a philosophy very similar to that, though it is called “pure pricing”…translated, that means every customer pays the same price. That may or may not be sticker, but in this case with very little spread between invoice and MSRP it is easier to just stick to MSRP.

So to answer your question…I would call and or email a few different Saturn stores to get their take. Most stores have an Internet department, and it can be much easier and smoother to go that route with very little effort.

sounds like you’ve already made up your mind about the vue but if you take any stock in consumer reports’ opinion, you might think twice. terrible reliability, marginal customer satisfaction and possible roll-over issues. other than that… they’re grrrrrreat!

“Say, as opposed to the Honda Element.”

i don’t like them. if there was a somewhat sprightlier version of the scion xb, i’d consider that.

“terrible reliability, marginal customer satisfaction and possible roll-over issues.”

i read MANY customer reviews on independent sites, as well as editorial reports by consumer sites. it appears that certain of the complaints are lodged by those who just don’t drive their cars right. then, others are righteous beefs, but concern peripheral issues, such as the interior, dashboard, etc.

rollover? yes, three isuzu troopers of mine ago, there were these reports, which absolutely WERE bogus.

Carsdirect.com

http://www.carsdirect.com/build/style?make=SA&modelid=383&zipcode=90013 has the base 4 cylinder Vue for $16,380 (90013 area code) has the base 6 cylinder Vue for $21,980 (which is less than invoice price)

You’ll probably want the 6 cylinder. It has the excellent Honda V6.

I would never buy a car built in the US, let alone an american car…check out the X3 first…got to love the X3. If not that, an M55 AMG

Oh. The Saturn looks cooler. Get the black one.

Having rented many Vues for events can say that I LOVE the seat fold down feature for sleep  Sister has one and loves it. Its amazing how much crap you can pack into a Vue!

No insight into getting the Saturn for cheaper (at least a new one) but what about financing (if you have to finance)? THat is where the real sales deal gets closed. If you need help with that–the ditzy blonde method in the showroom and tag teaming the salesman behind the closed door somehow has always worked wonders for me.

Dan,
There were some safety concerns about the Vue recently. A suspension failure, if I recall. I also recall some less-than-glowing reviews from Consumer Reports.

What is the Element but a sprightlier, roomier Scion xb. Everyone I know who has an Element loves it, especially cyclists and triathletes. I have a leased MB ML320. When that expires, I’m going for an Element. They’re so ugly that their beautiful.

Costco?

I have had mine for more than 3 years (4 cylinder stick) & 50000 miles and am a happy camper.

I dont have any advice on how to get one cheaper, but I would appreciate if you did buy one. I work on the Vue line.

Dave

You really are an idiot…

Which line? the red one?

Saturn makes a very good product…

This is not mine, but Elements can look pretty darn sharp.

Huh? The Assembly line.
