189 average! What are you a hummingbird?
My max average for a 5K is 179 average.
35-year old male: 193 max HR recorded
Did you warm up to get your HR up to mid to high 100s before starting your 2 miles?
Nice. I’d be dead if I ran with that HR. Come on what did you run?
Ok, so you have to spill the beans now. What are you doing differently that is helping you get faster?

I’m a 35 YO male, 158 lbs with a resting HR of about 40. My HR, however, is about the same when I run (about 10 lower for the bike. When I did my LTHR test for the run I warmed up for 10-15 minutes and then ran 30 minutes at a race pace and then averaged my HR for the last 20. Avg HR was 191 for me.
LOL! Purely genetic - some of us are hummingbirds. I did a 15K this spring with a HRM just for fun and averaged 189 for 15K, hit 203 up a nasty hill. I’m almost 38 years old ![]()
Means nothing - I’m a decent runner (15K was 58 mins I think), but not fast.
you ran 15k in 58 min and are saying you arent that fast?!?! are you kidding?
I have finally been able to put together 8 ish weeks of gradually increasing mileage without deployments, surgeries, or other random injuries which have been like a piano that I tow around. Not too much speedwork, more hills, lots of trail runs.
I did 2 minutes of push ups, 2 minutes of sit ups, then a 1/4 mile very slow jog. I was at about 110 bpm when I started. Not a hummingbird. I was just really pushing it. It hit 180 at 1/4 mile. I probably went out too fast and slowed a bit during mile 2. My max recorded hr is 205.
