I raced Ken Glah today

I raced Ken Glah today at the Diamond in the Rough Triathlon down in Md. I must say, that guy is a pure animal. I went off in the same wave as him and he caught and passed me about 400 meters before T2 to take the lead. But damn, how hard that guy was working when he just passed me on the bike and on the run blows my mind.

My hat goes off to him.

I also got his signature on my race shirt.

He was in the first tri I did in 1983 up at the Jersey shore. He was about 18 years old, skinny as a pencil, and full of red hair and freckles. Oh, and very fast. He won the event. Nice guy, too.

I remember a Thanksgiving 5k/10k in Newark, DE many years ago. Win the 10K and get a turkey. You decided your distance on the course. 2.5 miles in and it was only Kenny and me. I asked him which distance he was going for. Without missing a beat, he said “I’m going for the turkey” and took off.

I enjoyed the Cornish Game Hen.
