I need info on training with power

I am really thnking of purchasing a power tap wheel to train with power. Can any one chime in on the good the bad (if any) of training with power or the power tap hubs? I want to try to get to the next level of riding. Will something like this help me train in a better way and see results? Thanks Ken

Go to Ironmantalk.com and download the episode that features Gordo. It’s basically a one hour summary on how to use and train with power and i found it very informative.

cool thanks. do you use it if so how has it helped you?

while I think that Gordo podcast is good…it might be a bit premature for someone new to power…I would start with the “book” Training and Racing with a Power Meter, then do some more research…then that podcast.

Why would anyone need a powermeter??? Just get a HRM and stay below 180-age.

or that too.

Doh! So that is what I’ve been doing wrong!

Man, I sure hope some poor souls reading here know how to read into your sarcasm … ;0

Sergio get his bike back yet!

Oh, man- This whole time I thought it was 220-age. I always wondered why I finished my 7 hour rides so toasted…

Sarcasm? If that’s sarcasm, there are whole websites, forums and coaching businesses based on strong sarcasm.

Sergio got his bike the next day, it’s all systems go, he just went to bed in Klagenfurt

I don’t have a PM yet but had many of the same questions you seem to. Trukweaz might be right though, i had already done quite a bit of reading, especially on the forum, about PM’s so i could follow along with the lingo of that podcast. in the end i’m not sure i need to train with power at the moment, but if i had a pile of money i’d probably spring for an ergomo.

I lost the transmitter for my HRM.

I guess I’m hosed…

how does PCs fit into all this?

If you’re using PC’s, you shouldn’t be using a powermeter, that is the only way to keep believing that you’re improving.

PC’s trump all, including Paulo’s age/HR formula

Kurt (not a PC user cause I am a dink)
