Can some recommend a good book about philosophy to start with. I need a book written for a intellectually stunted simpleton like myself but with good information. I don’t really know what I am looking for so fire away.
Do you want to start with plato?
Or something a bit more “modern”…

Check out Sophie’s World, by Jostein Gaarder. It’s an overview of philosophy in the form of a novel. There is a ton of information in it, and the text isn’t unbearable. I think it is designed for young adults but it isn’t too bad.
Nicomachean ethics - Aristotle. Great ‘readable read’.
If you want to make sure nothing makes sense, read Heidegger.

A sampling of the wisdom you are about to drink up:
“A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind.”

good survey.
x2 on Sophies World - my step daughter was reading it in her mid teens and thought it was great - very approachable broad introduction - you can expand from there.

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
It’s not a philosophy book per se, but it offers some profound insight on man and our meaning/place in the world.

Walter Kaufmann, Nietsche: Philosopher, Psychologist, Antichrist
I’m reading Nietsche’s “Beyond Good and Evil” right now…all I’ve gotten from him so far is that every OTHER philosopher sucks! lol
I have read the Tao Of Pooh and the Te Of Piglet. Both fantastic reads. I have been a Winnie The Pooh geek since I was tiny and always wanted to be like him. I even have in ink on my body to remind me to try to be a better more even person.
