My trusty Sports Instruments Pro9 has disappeared. I had it Thursday morning after my run and then on Friday, it was gone. I think I dropped it in a parking lot or something. I had it for about 5 years and it was a great HRM. I liked it a lot. Easy to operate and the interval thing just worked. I went to look for another one, and apparently the company was bought out and they are no longer making any products. I found one online, but I didn’t want to deal with trying to change the battery on a discontinued product. So, I’m looking for a new HRM watch. Can you recommend one, please? I would like one that is as close to the SI Pro9 in functionality as possible. I don’t have a preference to any brand so I’m open to options. Also, being able to download the data to my PC would be nice, but not required.
I have the Polar RS200 which I like a lot. Like you, I just lost it recently and I just bought another one. Of course I was kind of locked in because I had the footpod that comes with it.
Anyway, it works great, never any interference and I love the footpod (though you can get it without that).
I own a Polar S410 which i bought used form someone from ST about 4 years ago. It has taken me through many races. Chest strap has yet to be changed (knock on wood), but the watch battery has been serviced twice (as expected). Overall, it has been pretty good to me. My 2 cents worth.
Oooh, Performance Bike has a 15% off deal going on now at their stores. The S150 is worth checking out. Kinda low end, but gets the job done. Only thing that i don’t quite like abt the S150 is that it has no backlight and only 1 workout memory, but heck, its only like $80 out the door.
I have a ton, and by ton I mean 4-8, straps and watches laying around the house and garage. Not sure how many work, or where they are, but you can have them if I can find them.
Pace is bogus … threshold is threshold, whether you are running 5:00 a mile or 8:00. Pace varies with (among other things) fitness, weather, fatigue, shoes, and terrain.
Polar RS200
-killer customization options (screen, zones, intervals)
-small & light
-big display
-easy interface
-best chest strap in the industry hands down
-2 year warranty
Polar RS400 if you wanna be a pimp
-bigger screen
-a few more features
-looks super cool
btw, I’ve got a factory reconditioned RS200 with brand new chest strap I’ll sell for $100 shipped… brand new case, face place, strap, battery, chest strap, electronics are about a year and a half old

Excellent.
OP: I just bought a Suunto T4. Was going to get the T3, but found the T4 for the same price. I figure that extra digit is probably worth it.
If your fellow ST’er does not find and send you a free one try to buy the RS200 over the RS100, a little more bang for the buck. The RS400 is an awesome unit. Look for Polar at some of the race expo’s for a better deal than full retail. I can answer your questions if you need help www.polarusa.com

I got the RS 800 with GPS for my birthday and husband also said “yes” the the custom Guru which is Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas for the next several years.
The RS 800 is great although, I need many more hours to figure out the software. It is extremely powerful.
Don’t screw around, get a Garmin 305 Forerunner and you will be in great shape. However you still have to do all that huffing, puffing and jogging stuff. Tim
