I would like to find a damaged tubular rim so I can use it to stretch spares on and pratice changing flats. I’ll pay for shipping.
check with your LBS…i picked up two of them for $5.
I second that recommendation, ask your favorite LBS. When I asked for a rim to stretch tubies, my LBS guy rummaged around in the basement of the shop and gave me an old one for free. One more reason to support your LBS!
Clincher rims work fine - just make sure the base tape doesn’t get caught under the lip.
if you want to pay for shipping from Hawaii I can see what I can do. I’ve got an older ambrosia rim that’s not laced up or anything and just taking up space. I’d ask a shop though…
btw, you don’t always need to stretch tubulars. it’s a lot easier to mount them if you stretch them but after you get the hang of it they go on decently (ie, less than 5min of swearing) even without stretching them. Or at least in my experience that’s the case. Maybe i don’t know much as all the pro mechanics still seem to stretch them…
Found what I needed.
Thanks,
