I Meant "S22 vs. Dual"

I posted a previous thread that asked about an S32 Vs. a dual and I meant S22 Vs. Dual. What a moron. Anyway, which should I choose.

Go with the Dual. The '03 model was good, the '04 model is even better with Ultegra component upgrades. Cervelo bikes are highly adjustable allowing one to dial in there fit just right. Last fall I wanted to buy a Dual after test riding it several time, but could only afford just under its price. I ended up buying a good used Quintana Roo on Ebay. The day after I paid for the QR bike a brand new Cervelo Dual in size 54–my size-- showed up on EBay on “buy now” for exactly the same price, I almost had a heart attack. Many bike companies would like to have their top of the line bikes to be as nice as the dual. The Dual framie is every bit as nice as the Felt S-22/B2 or Cannondale Ironman 2000/5000 frames, and way less expensive. Upgrade the parts when you can afford to and even if you can’t, you will have a smoking hot bike that will easily adjust to your ideal fit.

I did a lot of research and got sized by fitter first. I narrow it down to QR, Felt and Cerelo. The fitter told me the Cervelo had a long top tube and I was better off with the other two since my torso is on the short side. I personally feel the Felt’s are really good values. The S25 is a better comparison to the Dual in terms of price. If both fit you and you are value oriented then go with Felt but if you are type to upgrade components the Cervelo is a great bike.

I ended up with a QR Caliente because I got a great deal on it otherwise I was going with a S22 or S25.

If they both fit (which they did me) I can only tell you I was down to the Felt S22 and the Dual as well and went with the Felt. Pound for pound it’s a better spec’d bike, rolls 650 cc wheels (which is a must in my book) and while those Cervelo tubes sure are sweet to look at you can’t tell me it’s any faster, better, stronger than a Jim Felt built bike. I also thought the handling on the Felt was quicker and the damn thing just accelerates – I don’t why, just does. The Dual was a little to buttery for my taste (again, I don’t like 700c wheels though so take that for what it’s worth). Thats me though. Lots of people, especially on this forum, seem to have a hard on for the Cervelo.

If they both fit the S22 offers some significant upgrades over the Dual (bar/stem/derailleurs/brakes/tires/etc)

It comes down to the aerodynamics of the cervelo downtube and the value/spec parts list on the Dual.

I would like to note that a lot of shops/people say Cervelo time trial/triathlon bikes have long top tubes, but that is only if one is riding in the “slammed” or road time trial position with seatpost in the rear position. Check out the geometry on the Cervelo website for the rear and the forward positions; the top tubes can be both short and long now sweat. For myself in particular yeah I like Cevelo bikes, but I don’t have a “hard on for them”…the Felt DA with Dura Ace 10 Speed, a Hed bar, and a set of Zipp 909 Z9s in all blace…that I have Viagra hard on for.
