Great sleep, up at 4am. Not a cloud in the sky. On the bike by 5am, 2hr solid, hard paced ride (40kph along Barnet Hwy) finishing up with a 5k climb up SFU. Beat my last climb time by 2min. At the top pulled a McEwen (I am the “man”!), left the security guards in their booth sratching their heads. Flew down the backside at 70kph in a sweet sweet super aero tuck. Going so fast it brings tears to your eyes. Top that off with a 16k run on the trails, 5min faster than last time.
Yeah, somewhat. He’s started doing things like meeting me to run with me for the last 10k of my bricks, or meeting me at the end with nice 2nd beach salty fries.
Holy crap! That’s a HUGE workout! So, you did a two-hour ride on the bike, and THEN rank 16kms? What was the total workout time? How many days/week do you do those distances?
They have alarm clocks on the West Coast, CG ;-). You are missing the best part of the day by getting up later, the road and the world pretty much is yours at that time.
I agree, I love working out early in the am. Like I wrote earlier, little to no traffic, lights? what lights? mwhahahahaha! and no exhaust. I don’t mind the heat of the late day so much, but I hate the exhaust from the traffic.
Last year, I dragged a new training partner on the 45 minute drive to ride the 1/2IM UK course for a 0600 ride start. He moaned all the way down about the start time, but after enjoying the ride and run having a breakfast and driving back, he just laughed at those starting the ride in amongst the traffic and fumes.
On Sunday we leave at 0530 to ride the IM course ;-).
