So today I visited two of the larger LBS shops in the area. Talked tri-bikes, threw out some budget figures, talked about what is coming out for 2005 blah blah blah. Talk fitting…one shop says “no problem, we just get a frame one or two sizes smaller than your road bike size” the other “we just get a frame the same size as your road bike” One store says fitting someone to a tri bike is a little different than a road bike, the other says fitting is all the same be it road or triathlon. GRRRRRRRRRRR
RUN, don’t walk, away from both shops and find one that knows more than my grandmother about tri bike fit.
Whre are you? There’s a good chance someone here will know of a good shop within driving distance…
I’m an hour out of Boston (RI) so I will probably head there to Wheelworks, FastSplits, and International Bike.
All three of those shops are pretty good at trifits as I’ve been to them all and they all seem cool. International is good if you get the right guy, I thought his name was craig (but i could be wrong). I’m partial to fastsplits since they pretty much only concetrate on triathlon. The best one in the area for an absolutely comprehensive fit is still probably fitwerx in vermont if you can afford it. One of these days I’ll try to fork over the money and head up there (I live in boston so it’s around 3 and a half hours away. Good luck with your fitting.
Yeah, well, it could be worse…you could have bought a bike a few months ago based on advice from your LBS and then subsequently found out it was actually the wrong size for you… Don’t ask. Very annoying.
