I live under a rock: shipping cost

Went to post a book for an author to sign.

$45 each way for a freaking envelope with a book in it to the UK.

I bet Ryanair can fly a whole person cheaper!

Like, why the flip? Why screw onesie customers THAT bad?

I guess I need to find a buddy with some crazy sweet account somewhere and reimburse them.

Literally insane as an individual.

What method of shipment did you use?

What country do you live in?

Quotes from all the US shippers were $36 to $45 each way. Usps, ups, fedex, dhl.

From Raleigh NC to the UK.

I just bought an ebay item recently coming the other way from the UK and shipping was like $25 for a big bike part box (crankset). From an ebay member, not a store.

I don’t get it. Like, how the eff can you mail anything.

It’s a paperback book.

You should have used media mail
.

You should have used media mail

It’s not gone yet. I left the store without shipping it.

Media Mail is a domestic shipping service.

First Class package will be the least expensive.

How much does the book weigh with packaging?

It’s very difficult to deliver thing to people who live under rocks.

Freedom shipping! Media Mail, it used to be called book rate, is a great idea and I’m glad the Postal Service does that. Sorry that doesn’t help the OP
