Facebook is same. FB links don’t show up either, so not just Twit
I get the blank blue box as well. Makes me pause and think if I really want to click through.
Yeah, I think for this forum, honestly if posters really should give a brief descrip/comment if they want their post to mean anything. We get a lot of posts like: “Can’t believe this, outrageous” then post a blank twitter link. Or maybe some other brief useless comment.
I gotta tell you, as a user here, 95% of those I’m not ever going to click into X to see WTF people are talking about. Note to forum users, if you’re going to take the time to post some “news” from X, take a bit of time to post a few sentences on your take. Kind of getting tired of just endless streams of people posting X links with not much comment. Then if i take the time to go to X to view it, its a garbage X post that is unsubstantiated rants with no backup/sources/skewed/bias info, and I’ve wasted my time contributing to the rage algorithm.

Not just this forum. I see it in another Discourse based forum site I use as well. As someone else mentioned, it seems to be an issue between the Discourse software and the Twitter/X/Facebook software.
The little blue @ is a link, at least for me.
