Just took it on the maiden voyage today! The only thing I have to do is replace the chainrings, they were previously on a 650c bike and are 55-42! Much harder to push on 700c wheels!
Now updated with Reynolds race wheels, new Dura Ace integrated crankset, Dura Ace barake calipers, lowered front end…Still to come are some Supergo carbon side entry cages and I will be done!
And don’t get any funny ideas because my killer attack dog will eat you!
That is awesome. Hard to improve on. Might want to see a pointier seat nose, but the bluntness might work with the overall roundiness of the aerodynamics. Might want to see some different color tirewalls, just for fun, what you have may be perfect.
Nice bike. If I may critique…
-Good call on ditching the 55/42 rings (unless you happen to pedal at a very low cadence or are doing a very flat/downhill course)
-Get some blackwall tires- the tan stands out on an otherwise black bike
-That bike would look smokin’ with a disc
Thanks for all the cool input. I don’t think I stopped talking about this bike to my training partners since it came out. Best bike out there in my opinion.
I got the frame from Seton at Trisports in Tucson then moved everything over from my old bike. While I was in Tucson I also picked up the HED S-bend extensions that fit right into the carbon X bars. The American Classic are loaners from my brother until I can get some 700c wheels. They are nice though and I think I can train and race on them.
I don’t know about the colored tires. The guys at the LBS were trying to get me to buy some wild bar tape but I don’t think so. Very cool Photoshop work though.
THe front ends on Tri bikes are what looks so gangley (sp?). I would not draw attention to them with colored bar tape. Just me. But I would looke at those Michelin Pro race with the 3 turqoise pinstripes. Heck, they wear out if you ride.
That black/dark grey/light grey is really nice. I want it.
What would your pick be for a road bike? (and keep in mind we are just talking sex appeal, not performance!)
